Machine orchestration: material flow control

Kulmen controls material handling equipment in real time. Its material flow controller sends commands to AS/RS, conveyors, sorters, robots and other PLC-driven machines, receives their status, and routes each load dynamically. Acme equipment connects through standardised telegrams; equipment from other vendors is integrated through adaptable interfaces.

What is the difference between material flow control and PLC control?

PLCs move motors and read sensors. Material flow control decides which load goes where and when, and sends those decisions to the PLCs. Kulmen does the deciding; the PLCs execute.
